About Kentucky Owl Batch No. 8 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Batch #8 of Kentucky Owl Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a powerful and rich drink. It offers cinnamon, apple, caramel, and vanilla flavors. Released in July 2018, only 9,051 bottles were made. This 121-proof bourbon is crafted from spirits aged between 5 and 14 years. In 2019, Whisky Advocate gave it a score of 92 points. This sweet, creamy, and spicy bourbon is becoming harder to find. About Kentucky Owl

Kentucky Owl was started in 1879 by Charles Mortimer Dedman, a local pharmacist. After marrying, Dedman received land along the Kentucky River as a wedding gift. His adopted father, a town judge, gave him the land. The C.M. Dedman Distillery was built there on the riverbank. It produced “The Wise Man’s Bourbon” under Distilled Spirits Plant Designation “No. 16.” This makes it one of Kentucky’s original distilleries, working in a busy industry.

Kentucky Owl became successful and grew for many years. Prohibition, however, shut down production. The family still had a lot of bourbon stored at that time. Around 250,000 gallons remained, worth about $40 million today. When agents came in 1916, they seized the bourbon. It was taken by barge to Frankfort for storage in a warehouse.

Today, Kentucky Owl is planning a new distillery complex. It will include aging warehouses, a bottling plant, and a vintage dinner train. This new site will be on Cedar Creek Quarry in Bardstown. It will cover 420 acres with lakes and crystal-clear, limestone-filtered water. These features will improve the whiskey they produce.

It is made with at least 51% corn. It must be bottled at 40% ABV or higher. If you like American whiskey, give bourbon a try.
