About Kings County Single Barrel 7 Year Old Bourbon Whiskey
Kings County Single Barrel 7 Year Old was distilled in 2013 and aged in a greenhouse-like room at the distillery. It became a milestone for the craft distillery as the oldest single-barrel with an age statement at its release. Due to its long aging, 34% of the liquid in barrel no. 1198 was lost to evaporation. Bottled at 107 proof, it offers a classic bourbon taste with notes of barrel, spice, toffee, and peanut. In 2021, it earned a Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

About Kings County
Located along the East River, Kings County Distillery is New York City’s oldest working whiskey distillery. It’s also the first since Prohibition to open in the city. Hidden between Williamsburg and Vinegar Hill, master distillers Colin Spoelman and David Haskell craft bourbon and moonshine in the old Paymaster Building at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
They use a typewriter they found on the sidewalk to make labels for their clear, flask-like bottles. A hairdryer from Revlon helps seal each bottle. They keep track of batches on a chalkboard, and mesh laundry bags serve as strainers. They also reuse the first alcohol from each batch, called the “head,” as a disinfectant. The leftover mash is sold to a pig farmer as feed. Haskell jokes that he still doesn’t understand why the pigs don’t get drunk.
About Bourbon
Bourbon is a truly American drink. Most of it is made in Kentucky, but it can be made anywhere in the U.S.
It must be made with at least 51% corn. Bottled alcohol should be 40% ABV or higher. Give this classic a try.
