Blanton’s Gold Gift Box Edition is crafted from a blend of corn, rye, and malted barley. It is aged in American White oak barrels that have a dark #4 char. Blanton’s history begins in the winter of 1881 when Albert Bacon Blanton was born on a farm near Frankfort, Kentucky. At 16, he started working at the Old Fire Copper Distillery as an office boy. Over the years, Blanton learned every part of the distillery. By age 20, he was made superintendent and stayed there until he retired in 1952.
Much like his mentor E.H. Taylor, Blanton was a traditional bourbon maker. He was dedicated to making Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. Blanton carefully chose barrels from a special part of Warehouse H—believing it was the best for aging bourbon. He kept some barrels for his private reserve from this spot.
