About Van Winkle Special Reserve Lot B 12 Year Old Bourbon Whiskey
Van Winkle Bourbons honors one of the pioneers of the whiskey industry. Their bourbons are crafted from a wheated recipe, using wheat instead of rye as the secondary grain. Some bourbons, like Larceny, share similar mash bills. After distillation in Kentucky, this Special Reserve Lot “B” bourbon ages for 12 years and is bottled at 45.2% ABV. Despite its youth, it offers a smooth, elegant profile with rich hints of baking spices, citrus, nuts, and charred sugar.

Old Rip Van Winkle’s history begins in 1893 with Julian Pappy Van Winkle Sr. He started as a salesman for W.L. Weller & Sons in Louisville. The company was a liquor wholesaler selling brands like Old Fitzgerald and Rebel Yell. After 1900, Van Winkle bought Weller & Sons and combined it with the Stitzel Distillery, which made much of the bourbon sold. During Prohibition, Van Winkle kept his distillery open under a medicinal license. When he died at 91 in 1966, he was the oldest active distiller in the U.S.
Bourbon is a symbol of America. Most of it is made in Kentucky, but it can be produced anywhere in the country. To qualify as bourbon, it must contain at least 51% corn and be bottled at 40% ABV or higher. Give this classic American drink a try.
