Eagle Rare 17 Year Old 2020 Antique Collection
Julian III was honored when Buffalo Trace first reached out but wasn’t eager at once. He had plenty of bourbon aging, yet he was unsure if it was enough for the future. As bourbon’s popularity grew, he wanted to keep reserve stocks safe. Buffalo Trace had acquired the W.L. Weller label in 1999 and started making bourbon with a recipe close to Pappy’s. The switch was smooth. By May 2002, Buffalo Trace was producing Van Winkle bourbons following Pappy’s exact recipe. This change helps Old Rip Van Winkle keep its high standards while increasing the number of barrels for future use.
This rare bourbon spends nearly 20 years aging in oak barrels and is only available in limited amounts once each fall. Savor this smooth, aged whiskey to understand why patience truly pays off.
