About Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. Barrel Proof Batch #9 Bourbon Whiskey
This bourbon is made from specially selected barrels and bottled directly from the cask. It remains unfiltered and uncut at over 125 proof. This method harkens back to whiskey making before Prohibition, during Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr.’s time at Buffalo Trace Distillery. The spirit comes from barrels aged in rickhouses built over a century ago by Taylor. It offers an exceptionally smooth taste. This bourbon earned a Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

About E.H. Taylor, Jr.
In 1869, Taylor bought a small distillery near the Kentucky River. He named it O.F.C Distillery, short for Old Fire Copper. Taylor started updating and improving the facility. He added copper fermentation tanks, new grinding equipment, and distinctive stills. He also introduced new methods, such as aging bourbon in climate-controlled rickhouses.
At that time, many distilleries did not age their whiskey. To improve flavor, some added juice or syrup. Others used acid or tobacco to get their signature color and taste.
With experience and strong political ties, Taylor helped pass the Bottled-In-Bond Act of 1897, with Treasury Secretary John G. Carlisle. The law said bonded spirits had to come from a single distiller and one location during one season. It also required spirits to be aged in government-supervised warehouses for at least four years and bottled at 100 proof.
