About Angel’s Envy

After college, Lincoln Henderson began his career as a grain chemist at Brown-Forman and eventually became Master Distiller. Over 40 years, he developed brands like Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Jack Daniel’s “Gentleman Jack,” and Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Whiskey. He also managed quality control, distillery techniques, and sensory testing. Henderson always enjoyed his work, earning the Malt Advocate Lifetime Achievement Award and a spot in the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame.

After retiring, Henderson started Angel’s Envy Bourbon as a personal project. He described it as his life’s work, blending over 200 years of bourbon tradition with 400 years of port wine history. The name comes from the “angel’s share,” the whiskey that evaporates as it ages. Henderson felt the angels wanted more of the spirits. His son Wes Henderson now runs the family business.
